Back again to announce a scholarship opportunity. This one is for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering. The Future Engineers Scholarship, sponsored by Kelly Engineering Resources is designed to build student awareness of the vast, varied and unlimited potential within the field of engineering. The opportunity targets sophomores and juniors and the winner will receive a $5000 award that can be used to subsidize tuition, room and board, fees and books during the 2013 academic year. The winner will be chosen based on his/her academic merit and the depth of his/her academic and professional goals. Application materials will be reviewed to assess applicants' commitment to one day making a significant contribution to the field of engineering. Don't miss the bus children.

So it's October already. We're almost half way through the Fall 2012 semester. KUH!RAY!ZEE! Before you know it college and graduate school applications will be due. Last month I gave you a checklist to start the application process and I'm back to share some check points of how to proceed in completing your college and graduate school application process. Ain't these neat little monthly increments convenient ?!? Hopefully, this post will be helpful to all high school and college seniors and/or adults and working professionals who plan to submit applications for undergrauate or graduate programs that will begin in the Summer or Fall of 2013. Diary of a Scholar- Soooooo, Cleopatra Says I'm Sick Y'all

DISCLAIMER- There is quite a bit of whining in this post. Just let me.

That awkward moment when you realize it’s really real. Yea, so classes started and there I was coasting along in my course reading and class discussion. All of sudden I had deadlines; events at work and jargon laden discussion of dense texts on paradigms, epistemologies, and methodologies in each of my classes. All this while I’m trying to overcome that surreal “am -I –really- here” feeling that I still can’t seem to shake. My side-eye is perpetual. I want to go home. You’d think that given my most recent experience of working a full time job while going to graduate school, I'd find a sense of relief in "just" being a full time graduate student. I guess that's what I get for thinking... SMH!

Dropbox is a web based program that allows you to upload, back up and share files online. Have you ever gotten to the library/computer to realize that you left your flash drive at home? Or have you ever woke up to find that your hard drive has completely imploded and you lost your term papers and class notes to the war on PCs? Dropbox has been there for me when I've faced similar challenges along my academic journey. I think every student should have one. Click the link below for more information.

Diary of a Scholar- Proseminar/First Week of Classes Fall 2012

It's the first week of class and yesterday I went to Proseminar. This is a course designed for first year doctoral students that my entire cohort is required to take. I'm thrilled and terrified at the same damn time. We begin with pleasantries, the who-you-are and where-you're-from song and dance performed by all professors and students on the first day of class. The discussion expands to include goals, aspirations and expectations for the course, the community and our esteemed professor. It's a good time. I don't remember exactly when anxiety whispered it's breathy panic into the ears of my subconscious but by the time the syllabi were distributed I had already turned to a blank page in my notebook and penned a quick prayer.

Back to School 2012-Move In Day 101

The big day is swiftly approaching. During the next few weeks, residence halls at colleges across the country will reopen their doors to incoming and returning students. It’s a day of long lines, heinous parking, crowded hallways & sweaty stairwells. The day can be overwhelming, especially for freshmen and first time dormers already dealing with the anxious excitement of a new school year. I'm back to share some information that will hopefully help you manage your move in and get you settled as soon as possible.
