A Real Tribute to Whitney Houston! Thank you @SashaAllenMusic!

I'm still debating on whether or not I will post the super emotional Whitney Houston tribute video that I recorded yesterday. But in the meantime I came across this video of Broadway superstar and singing phenom Sasha Allen, singing I Will Always Love you in Honor of Mama Whit. The last I heard Sasha was expecting and on maternity leave of serve awaiting the birth of her child. I don't know if she is still prego in this video or if she's already had her little one but in any case she sits fresh faced in front of her webcam and delivers an effortless vocal that defecates all over last night's grammy tribute. And without breaking a sweat or showing any sign of strain on her face. It's astounding. I've had the pleasure of hearing Sasha live on many occasions and I am, without question, a true fan. Her talent, like Whitney's, is a gift from God. The clarity and control of her voice is just plain sickening! Her sound is so full, so rich; it's like a fur coat or blanket, so plush and comforting you just want to swaddle yourself in it! I know that analogy was dramatic but I'm serious. This girl sings down. Thank you for sharing this Sasha! We love you Whitney! Get you a piece of this.

Random Greatness- My Melody By @JaidenTheCure Featuring Yummy Bingham

Everybody knows that TheGlamNERDS.com is #TeamJaidenTheCure and if you didn't know, now you do, so get into this! I make it my business to share great music with my readers and it's that time again. Jaiden is back with a brand new video for a single from his recently released mixtape Shade of Grey. This song, My Melody featuring Yummy Bingham, happens to be one of my favorites from the mixtape so I was geeked to learn of this video release. Jaiden and Yummy have great vocal chemistry, both of them shine individually but in complimentary ways. The song is really cute with very clean, simple but SOUND production and arrangement. It's good clean dating music. You know, a good boy likes girl, girl likes boy song. A refreshing departure from the "boy sees girl in club, f*cks her in the bathroom and then goes to Waffle House" anthems ever present on the radio today. I fully endorse this. My Thoughts on The Game Premiere (Season 5)

If I had to sum up my reaction to the premier of Season 5 of BET’s The Game into one word it would have to be, subpar. I can’t tell you how much it pains me to say this, but the BET curse lives on. Everything that the network touches turns to a raging heap of “What the Hell?". I will forever blame Debra Lee. As they did at the start of Season 4, the premier began with the climax of three concurrent storylines and then they retold the stories from the beginning. Whose idea was this? Jason’s married in Mexico, Janay lies “dead” in Malik’s garage and Melanie is barren as a result of a mystery abortion. I can’t speak for anyone else but I was confuzzled. (aka simultaneously confused and puzzled) and this was all in the first 5 minutes. SMHRF

Unfortunately, it didn’t get better. I wanted to laugh so bad but, I just didn’t. I waited and waited for those big yell laugh moments that The Game usually gives me and I got ,maybe, 1 and a half. This is not okay. I expected story development and charachter growth but many of the changes seemed really left field to me. First of all, my Auntie Tasha Mack is WAY too skinny and stressed out. Apparently her personality is still on hiatus. Hopefully it will join us next Tuesday. Secondly, Brit Brat ( Jason and Kelly’s daughter) is a smooth 32 years old and anti Black man, which is a message that we always welcome on BET, right? *sucks teeth*. And I’m sorry but the middle aged yt lady pusha (drug dealer) with the Nine in her Michael Kors bag just drained my entire life. Was it just me?

I’m not going to totally bash. There were a couple good moments. For starters, I really enjoyed Brandy’s character, Chardonnay, Tee Tee is always a delight and although his line up and widows peak were super unfortunate, Malik ( Hosea Chanchez) gave me glorious body every time his wonderful likeness graced all 32inches of my television screen. *quickens*

Listen, The Game really got on my nerves last night. The whole Melanie/Derwin drama was wiggity, as in wiggity wiggity wack. (Word to Kris Kross). I wanted to curse Derwin completely out. You sir, do not get to be upset with Melanie for aborting a baby that wasn't yours. Have you forgotten that your wife was planning a birthday party for your child, (a child that you had with another woman) and IN HER HOUSE? Derwin you are are reaching love, EEEE-specially since Melanie conceived only after she found out that you poured your penis into Drew Sidora’s irrelevant box. Drew being, YET ANOTHER BROAD. Have several seats, my dude and STAT. I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right but the way Derwin carried on screamed the pot calling the kettle black. And I was really annoyed with Melanie for not calling Derwin all the way out. Especially since she’s on this self proclaimed “strong black woman” kick. Listen, Mr. Davis would not have been ready for all the cards I would've pulled. Nope! But Melanie’s simple ass just begged and pleaded to be spooned to the tune of I love you past the moon. I was over it. *rolls eyes*

The writers could have also missed me with Jason’s Black Girl bullying and this whole “Life for Yellow Niggas ain’t been no crystal stair “malarkey. I mean honestly, He's gonna have to do better than that. Especially since everybody (even his 30 year old "teenage" daughter) knows he ain't checking for the sisters. The marriage in Mexico was a bit of a stretch but hey, anything to keep my girl B-Rocka working. I really hope things turn around from here. I will definitely keep watching and praying that The Game that I’ve come to know and love returns and soon. What are your thoughts? Did you like the episode?

Ryan Leslie Appointed Artist In Residence at NYU

Ryan Leslie is headed back to school. This time the Harvard alum is headed to NYU to serve as the very first Artist in Residence for The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch of Arts. This is a big deal. Leslie’s appointment starts immediately and he’ll be there to support students in developing “the skills of creative entrepreneurship for the music industry.”

Students will benefit from one on one sessions, mentoring and group lectures with the Grammy award winning star. Leslie. He will work closely with student and guide and groom their song writing and artist development. I can’t express how excited I am. Ryan Leslie is in fact, a genius in his own right. His evolution as an artist and business man has been inspiring to music lovers everywhere. He creates in such an organic yet technical way. He’s a stylist who will undoubtedly impact the industry for years to come.

Chair of The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music shared why Leslie was chose as the center’s very first Artist in Residence. He writes “ Ryan Leslie is the epitome of the creative entrepreneur and the holistic attitude we believe so firmly in the Clive Davis Institute. His entire professional career has been a perfect balance between artistry and business acumen. We think someone of Ryan Leslie’s intelligence, talent, and entrepreneurial savvy will add a dynamic new dimension to the Institute and we’re excited to have him join the program.”

I’m 40 different types of jealous of all of the students that will glean from Leslie’s God given gifts. Hopefully I can find a way to get on campus to get a piece of something. My Favorite BBW LA Review with @FunkyDineva Yes Gahd Hunny!

Listen, I got your messages and your tweets about reviewing the Basketball Wives LA but I didn't know if I should comment. I had a few reasons. Number one, I have nothing nice to say. Secondly, I cringe at the thought of my review encouraging people to watch BBW LA and contribute to the lining of Shaunie O'Neals pocket's with this compensatory blood money. I'll get to her in a future post. I feel an open letter to her in my spirit. I'm not going to be rude I'd just love to know why she's chosen to make f setting the stage for stripping generations of women of color of their dignity, her passion and life's work. * Insert Power Puff Girl BLINK*. Finally I felt like all the things that I felt, believed, stated I've already seen in my timeline/newsfeed. I mean, why beat a dead Kimsha. oop, I mean horse. :-)

However, upon visiting my YouTube Subscription page today I saw that my new favorite, @FunkyDineva had posted his latest call to "Nessa" to discuss Gloria Govan and the twits. After I dougied into a death dip in sheer excitement, I watched the video. Babye! Ms. Dineva SNATCHED the words directly out of my mouth and said everything that I ever thought to say about the Basketball Wives LA. I decided to post the video on my blog for those readers and subscribers that asked for my thoughts. If you have yet to get into this super funny, super talented, new fave of mine I strongly encourage you to do so. Get into all of his vids! He's a star. Your Haiah will be laid like K- Ci Hailey when he Jojo smoked whatever they smoked and fell the f*ck out on that stage in North Carolina. Yes chyle... He's that funny. YES Gahd Hunny!

I know I typically save Random Greatness posts for the end of the week but I heard this today and had to share. Ya'll know how I feel about real singing?! Josh Brown ( @VocallynarcotiC on the Twidda) is meeting all of my needs with his latest cover, Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved. I won't even waste your time trying to convey the magnitude of greatness in this little acapella wonder. My only beef is that it's just a minute and 34 seconds.. but otherwise it is flawless. BasketBall "Wives" Review - July 25, 2011 Video

Guilty Pleasure Alert! The mess was so sticky on Basketball Wives last night I decided to review. We dealt first with Evelyn and Jen's tiff over Jen's most accurate assessment of Evelyn's fiance Chad Ocho-Dumbo. It ended well as they resolved their difference and remain bff's. The meat of the episode was found in Tami Roman's ever looming disdain for newest Basketball Wife Meeka Claxton. Meeka's double faced tongue wagging has finally caught up with her during the cast's Shaunie sponsored trip to Rome, Italy. She hung herself and Suzie's mindless verbal diarrhea assisted by kicking the chair from underneath her. It was 60 minutes of MESS and iLived! I am not an advocate of the behavior displayed but I'll be damned if it's not entertaining. #realtalk There was cursing, bullying, neck rolling, finger wagging, beer swilling, track shifting and the greatest MUSH I've seen in a solid 15 years. I had to share my comments.

Next week, Royce the Realest is back and fraternizing with Jen's Ex Eric Williams aka Seabiscuit! I'm interested to see how that will play out because I can't imagine what business she would have with him. Hopefully, we'll get another Meeka/Tami encounter and maybe even somebody will take their fists and realign Suzie's ole flappin jaws. One can only hope. Till Next Time!

Single Ladies... Round 2

God knows I tried... At 9pm last night I cleared my mind of all the ignorant folly that is the Angry Birds aka Basketball (Non) Wives and sincerely tried to give Single Ladies a solid second try. My ambition was short lived. It couldn't have lasted for more than 38 seconds. *sigh*

I just don't think I'll be able to do this. Between the predictable plot and the community theatre acting ... the show is just plain painful to watch. Let's not even get into the wigs. My poor nerves just can't take. But as promised I've got a little commentary. So to review briefly, Lisa Raye's character gave up the goods to Blue from The Temptations to distract him from the obvious fact that she stole his watch from Camron. PS, has anybody noticed that Lisa Raye's character is simply Diamond 20 years later. Think about it. She stopped stripping for the glamourous life of a video vixen and she still works RETAIL... *blink blink blink*

Anywho, the Yt girl's affair with the Mayor, played by Common, has been publicly exposed and her husband gave the most disgracefully unconvincing "Bish get your sh"t" speech in the history of all infidelity. I want my money back. I've seen chitlin circuit church plays feature better acting. It was painful. In like fashion, Pilar Sanders ( who plays Common's wife) also got her neck roll on while seemingly reading cue cards. I mean I believed her lacefront more than I believed her. #jussaying. And finally, Stacey Dash is still being courted by the pink peen, I mean the Yt tattoo artist and actually falling for him despite his uncanny inability to keep his foot out of his mouth. *yawns*

The worst part is despite all this shade I'm slanging, I can't say that I won't be watching anymore. I don't like to set myself up. Honestly, I enjoy watching the horror and tweeting the folly. But sincerely, I believe Single Ladies to be the the worst moments of 2011 thus far. What are your thoughts?

Random Greatness! - Music Always Makes Me Feel Better! Thank You @JaidenTheCure!

So I've had an absolutely hellatious start to my Thursday. In trying not dwell on the countless things that joined forces on a mission to make me cry, good music is always where start. As I perused my YouTube Subscriptions I came across a recent upload by my one of my FAVORITE singers. I clicked the link and instantly all the things that were draining me no longer matter. I'm not even joking. I know you're sick of me going on and on about Jaiden The Cure but you'll just have to get over yourselves. Judge me freely, the boy SINGS! HERE he is again singing No Ordinary Love!

Those of you who follow me on YouTube know that I've already posted a video of Jaiden singing No Ordinary Love by Sade so pardon the redundancy but when I tell you that Jaiden's versatility and range is such that he reinvents a song every time he sings it. He's current but classic and anyone that can refrain from having a fit while listening to him sing has mastered levels of self control that I'm still aspiring to. (ESPECIALLY THIS SECOND VERSE!!! *faints*) I decided to share it here just in case anyone else needed a little GREATNESS to get you through your classes, to the end of your work day or just to make you feel better. I hope you enjoy.
